DescriptionHitler will for ever be one of the most famous political leaders in the history of mankind and the mystique and fascination surrounding him is only magnified by the evil which current historians, media and politicians seek to associate him. This book gives a small insight into the side of Hitler 'they' don't want you to know about. The artist turned reluctant politician and military leader, who's ultimate aim was the creation of great art and culture and architecture. The previous review suggests a price of $10,000 for a Hitler watercolour. Infact this is a huge underestimate and can only be applied to paintings which are probable fakes or have little or questionable provenance. Genuine Hitler watercolours with good provenance have sold from reputable auction houses for between $45- 90,000 over the past 10 years with about $50- $55,000 being about average in 2011. This has to be compared with the price of Winston Churchill paintings which sell for $ millions despite worldwide interest/ fascination with Hitler being far greater, (as evidenced by the number of books published about each leader and the number of google search results for each leader). The price of the Hitler paintings would appear to be at a substantial discount due to the stigma which people want attached to anything to do with the man, his achievements and his ideology. The book is made of quality paper with good quality colour reproductions of a small collection of Hitler's watercolours which ended up in Italy after his death. There is an interesting essay giving some account of Hitler the artist. Publisher: Fratelli Alinari (30 June 2005) Language: English ISBN-10: 887292054X ISBN-13: 978-8872920541 Sharing Widget |
