A wonderful book and photo feature about everyday life in DDR, "German Democratic Republic" or East Germany, the communist parastate set up by the Soviet Union for 44 years of occupation, ending only with the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989. The authors. writer Eva Windmöller and photographer Thomas Höpker were correspondents in East Berlin for the West German magazine "Stern" (Star) for two years in the late 1970's. Their book gives interesting insight into a state that has disappeared forever.
