[1985] Lushus Daim & The Pretty Vain - More Than You Can Handle [PR-172]
A1: More Than You Can Handle (Slam Version) - 5:56 A2: More Than You Can Handle (Instrumental Version) - 5:33 B1: More Than You Can Handle (You Got Dub Version) - 7:32 This is the US promo 12" (Motown/Conceited PR-172), ripped to 16/48 FLAC in December 2012. This is one of those "should've been a hit" situations. Lushus Daim wasn't a Prince protégé, but sure looked the part, and was a better singer. Her band, The Pretty Vain, had a very tight, of-the-moment, hybrid R&B dance sound, but Motown was just a mess in the mid-'80s, and the group fell by the wayside. This song sounds somewhat like Ready for the World's "Oh Sheila" if it had been reworked by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. The song's producer, Leon Sylvers, had been a mentor to Jam & Lewis, in fact.
