3 Minute Wonder is a showcase for short films from new and upcoming writers and directors on Channel4. They run each day, usually from Monday to Thursday, with each week's films linked thematically.



The art critic Waldemar Januszczak takes us around the 'Olympic Games for modern art', the Venice Biennale.



Part 1

Waldemar introduces Great Britain's chosen artist for the Biennale, Steve McQueen, and his video installation piece which studies the biennale's gardens in winter time when all of the crowds are gone and only the stray dogs and bag-ladies are left.



Part 2

A quick tour around the other big players in the competition, the French, German, Russian, Japanese, Danish and Polish pavillions.



Part 3

There are 77 countries taking part in the biennale. Three making strong political statements are the Comoros Islands with modernisaton; Pakistan and Mexico highlighting the violence that people in those countries are subject to every day.



Part 4

It's not all heavy stuff at the event. There are some playful pieces such as the invasion of the zepellins from Mexico and the piano wire based transportation device straight out of the Startship Enterprise or more exactly Brazil.
