Don't expect any large, finished project ideas. This is a book of smaller motifs, although they are often beautifully detailed and if you are inclined, they can be combined into larger samplers. Having some graph paper to plot out your own design is very helpful.

There are indispensable colour photos showing the finished stitching as the designs are in black and white with symbols, so if you don't have the exact Anchor/DMC thread you may need to refer to the photos to make your own substitutes.

There is fairly minimal back stitch used and a few, scarce French knots.
