A Fall To Break - The Man In The Mask - 2011

A Fall To Break began as a project for change in 2009 when singer Nathan Shoemaker and guitarist Craig Artz began collaborating on ideas for a music project. The ideas began with the desire to have music with meaning. Nathan from a strong musical upbringing, and Craig coming from his recent band Gridlokt which was a successful and in it's time, started throwing the plans down and began taking steps to make it happen.
It first started with bringing in Jeffrey Dickey and Matt Bejar. Jeff a former member of Gridlokt as well, and Matt Bejar a former member of local bands in Tucson, became the new members of the band. With time the band writing, and incorporated a second guitarist in the project. The band wrote their first song "Fall Down" which shaped the naming of the band. A Fall To Break was named as such because at the time all of the band members were in situations in life, such as many people around them were. That feeling that you're falling past the point of no return, and there is no one to break your fall.
Minor line-up changes occurred, and the band released their first single "Can't Let Go" which spread some local hype on the internet. Craig had begun his planning to expand his personal studio, and get the band going full time. During the sessions of booking bands for recording in his studio, a Myspace conversation began between him and Cody Larson who at the time was trying to book studio time for his former project Tamaska.
Craig and Cody discussed over time the fact the band needed a second guitarist, and finally things fell into place. Cody joined the band in 2010 and became the most recent addition to the A Fall To Break family. The finished line-up sparked what would become the recording sessions of the debut album "September Falls".
3 months into practicing and shooting ideas around, September Falls was in full production. The band had planned to release an album their first show and so, they did. After about a month of recording, and numerous hours of time put into production and editing by Craig Artz, the band had their first album featuring 11 full length tracks and a guest track. The first show on September 18th pulled over 600 people, and began the conquest.
The album would later be signed to Funzalo Records (Sirsy, Tony Furtado, Etc.) The band took the deal and began their official online sales of their first album, and distribution was finally available for the band to expand out of town.
A Fall To Break began putting full force effort into achieving their dreams. Promoting and writing more and more music. The band found themselves back in the studio nearly 8 months later, writing an entire new album. This time much more influence and time would be put into the new material, which began the real shaping of the bands direction. Having finally locked in with the feel of working as band members and musicians, they wrote the follow up album "The Man In The Mask" featuring 14 full length songs and a guest track.
The band released The man In The Mask on September 24th of 2011. Exactly one year and 6 days apart from the first album, the band set the bar high in proving they want to make this something.
