A History of Palestine, 634-1099 - 2010kaiser

I am a historian myself and I find this book highly biased. It is a translation of an Israeli book. The title says it all: calling the land "Palestine" only on the limited range starting of 7th century to 11th century is a clear way to support the Israeli view that "Palestine didn't exist in 1948", a view commonly shared in today's Israel. Nothing about the fact that the arabic word for "palestine" ("Filisteen") roots in its original land inhabitant in the second millenium BC, the Philistines, which justified the land to be called palestine since that time. The Romans were aware, because after the failed jewish revolutions in the beginning of Christian Era,which ended with mass suicides in Massada and the fall of Jerusalem, the Roman Emperor Hadrian decided to give back the place its original name of Palestine again. And again, the Israeli author here decide to stop his study at the arrival of Crusaders, but The Crusaders lasted two centuries only (of which one century for the retaking of Jerusalem) and the place continued to be called Palestine up to the British Mandate. At the light of all this, i do not recommend this torrent, and its standards are well below the ethics of any honest historian. For those who are interested in honest history and who still wish to get an israeli point of view, the best would be to read books from renewed jewish scholars such as Ilan Pappe, an Oxford graduated historian who is well regarded and respected in his field among specialists.
