TRAMA:

Tom Stall (Viggo Mortensen) vive tranquillo e felice con la moglie avvocato (Maria Bello) e i loro due bambini nella piccola città di Millbrook, Indiana, ma la loro idilliaca esistenza va in pezzi quando una notte Tom sventa una rapina nel suo ristorante. Quando si accorge del pericolo, entra in azione e salva i suoi clienti e amici uccidendo i due criminali per difesa. La vita di Tom cambia dopo quella notte, tutti lo considerano un eroe, e il circo dei media lo spinge sotto i riflettori. A disagio per questa inaspettata celebrità, cerca di ritornare alla vita normale, ma deve confrontarsi con un tipo misterioso e minaccioso (Ed Harris), che arriva in città credendo che Tom sia l’uomo dal quale in passato ha subito ingiustizie. Tom e la sua famiglia reagiscono allo scambio di identità e lottano per far fronte alla nuova realtà, ma sono costretti a rivedere le loro relazioni e i problemi che li dividono.

STORYLINE:

This is the story of a mild-mannered man, named Tom Stall, who becomes a local hero through an act of violence, he lives a happy and quiet life with his lawyer wife and their two children in the small town of Millbrook, Indiana. But one night their idyllic existence is shattered when Tom foils a vicious attempted robbery in his diner. Sensing danger, he takes action and saves his customers and friends in the self-defense killings of two-sought-after criminals. Heralded as a hero, Tom's life is changed overnight, attracting a national media circus, which forces him into the spotlight. Uncomfortable with his newfound celebrity, Tom tries to return to the normalcy of his ordinary life only to be confronted by a mysterious and threatening man who arrives in town believing Tom is the man who wronged him in the past.
