Em 1978, ainda sob ditadura do presidente Ernesto Geisel, o Brasil sucumbe à discoteca, graças à novela Dancin' Days. Amanda (Vanessa Giácomo), viciada no drama televisivo, e Dora (Claudia Ohana) fogem de São Paulo para o Rio de Janeiro. O policial Brandão (Alexandre Nero) está no encalço das duas e neste caminho seus destinos vão cruzar com os de outros desajustados: João Paulo (Mateus Solano), diplomata que se sente estrangeiro no próprio país; o revolucionário Vicente (Otto Jr.) e seu irmão Pedro; e o adolescente Caio (Paulo Lontra), que foi criado pelos avôs e conta com a ajuda de Mônica (Thaís Müller) na luta para ser aceito como gay. Ambos são jovens e fascinados por disco music e pela novela Dancin' Days.
