Leila Saraostre moved to Paris to study art history at the Sorbonne. Once, walking not far from the Louvre, she met Uriel Ruthven, a young and enigmatic man. He was handsome and well-educated and she fell in love with him immediately. He showed her the bright city Paris and they were both happy. But later he disappeared...
