A dramatisation of CS Forester's famous novel set in Africa in the early months of World War 1. Londoner Charlie Alnut has been working his boat "The African Queen"on an un-named river in East Africa. He takes on board he prim Rose Sayer, the sister of a recently deceased missionary. Hatred between them turns to love as they fight the river to reach a lake held by the Germans, and there sink a German gunboat.
