Afternoon Plays can be great, they can be weak. But sometimes they are so tremendously, profoundly strong that they deserve a better fate than being forgotten by the time the 3 o'clock news is over. Stephen Wyatt's tale is one such play and not only was it acclaimed on its first airing last November, it's also one of the six nominees for this year's Tinniswood Award, due to be announced as this issue reaches the shops. It's about the war graves-the simple, stark memorials that make us reflect on the past and look to the future with determination. And they wouldn't exist at all were it not for one man's efforts.
