Deon Barnes (50 Cent) is een running back met een combinatie van kracht en
snelheid. Zijn moeder Bee werkt dubbele diensten in een bar en wanneer Deon op
TV is zit het cafe vol met supporters. De familievriend Eric (Mario van Peebles)
is er altijd om Bee te steunen en treedt op als mentor voor Deon. Sean, de broer
van Deon is ook een student, een harde werker die zijn collegegeld betaalt van
financiële steun en een full-time baan bij een autodealer. De broers staan op
goede voet met elkaar maar Deon is niet op de hoogte van de rancune die Sean
tegenover hem voelt. Sean werkt hard om goede resultaten te behalen op school en
Deon werkt hard om in de NFL te komen. Wanneer het team aan het eind van het
seizoen een overwinning nodig heeft om hun positie veilig te stellen pept Deon
zijn teamspelers op en helpt hen aan de overwinning. Maar de feestvreugde is van
korte duur wanneer Deon in de kleedkamer instort en wakker wordt in het
ziekenhuis. Daar krijgt hij van Dr. Brintall (Ray Liotta) te horen dat hij kanker
heeft en hij waarschijnlijk nooit meer football zal kunnen spelen.
