Carrington’s judge/team leader Adam Levine chose Katy Perry’s Firework for her first performance.
While the monotonous chorus seemed a little off for Carrington’s style, the singer handled Levine’s
pick well and showcased her power with a big final note. Blake Shelton was impressed while Shakira
simply said Carrington “did good.”
Amber’s show-stopping performance came during the contestant-pick round when she elected to sing
Maroon 5′s Sad. Even though Sad is an obscure ballad from the band’s latest album, Carrington
was able to make it her own and, in Levine’s own words, sing it better than himself.
In my opinion, this was Carrington’s best performance to date.
The episode also followed Carrington back to her hometown of Rockwall where the mayor declared
June 6 to be “Amber Carrington Day.”
