American Top 40 1971 December 11th (Size: 197.69 MB)
Description"From the Great Lakes to the Rio Grande, you hear the nation's top hits every week at this time on AT40." American Top 40 with Casey Kasem aired on radio from July 4, 1970 until August 6, 1988. This recording is a rebroadcast from internet radio. The first and last extras (segments 4 and 12) are from the original show. Two listeners ask the same question, "What was the Beatles biggest hit?" Casey gives two answers: the song that stayed #1 the longest, and which record sold the most copies. Casey tells how John Lennon was once offered the role of Jesus, but the offer was later withdrawn when producers decided he was too famous to play the part. Lennon is at number 13 with "Imagine." Get a double share of Cher! She's at number 8 with Sony singing "All I Ever Need Is You" and at number 7 with "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves." Casey answers a listener question: "Of all the number one records in chart history, which one had the weakest chart performance?" Get the answer right after Casey plays "An Old Fashioned Love Song" (at number 5) by Three Dog Night. Casey promotes his upcoming Christmas Special, the December 25th broadcast. It would be the first of several Christmas countdowns in Casey's future, now available as American_Top_40_Casey_Kasem_Christmas_Package only here on Kickass Torrents. 40: Your Move - Yes 39: Hallelujah - Sweathog 38: Let's Stay Together - Al Green 37: Drowning In The Sea Of Love - Joe Simon 36: Behind Blue Eyes - The Who 35: I'm A Greedy Man Part 1 - James Brown 34: An American Tragedy - Mickey Newbury 33: Wild Night - Van Morrison 32: Clean Up Woman - Betty Wright 31: I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony) - The Hillside Singers 30: One Monkey Don't Stop No Show - Honey Cone 29: Easy Loving - Freddie Hart 28: (I Know) I'm Losing You - Rod Stewart 27: Sunshine - Jonathan Edwards SPECIAL: Please Mr. Postman - The Marvelettes 26: Peace Train - Cat Stevens 25: American Pie - Don Mclean 24: Two Divided By Love - Grass Roots 23: Everybody's Everything - Santana 22: Superstar (Remember How You Got Where You Are) - The Temptations 21: Theme from "Summer Of '42" - Peter Nero 20: Where Did Our Love Go - Donnie Elbert 19: Hey Girl - Donny Osmond 18: You Are Everything - The Stylistics 17: A Natural Man - Lou Rawls 16: Respect Yourself - The Staple Singers 15: Stones - Neil Diamond 14: Scorpio - Dennis Coffey & The Detriot Guitar Band 13: Imagine - John Lennon 12: Rock Steady - Aretha Franklin 11: Cherish - David Cassidy 10: The Desiderata - Les Crane 9: Brand New Key - Melanie 8: All I Ever Need Is You - Sonny & Cher 7: Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves - Cher 6: Baby I'm-A Want You - Bread 5: An Old Fashioned Love Song - Three Dog Night 4: Got To Be There - Michael Jackson SPECIAL: Batuka - Santana 3: Have You Seen Her - The Chi-Lites 2: Theme from "Shaft" - Isaac Hayes 1: Family Affair - Sly & The Family Stone Related Torrents
