"Hello again and welcome to American Top 40. I'm Casey Kasem and this is our weekly review of the 40 hottest singles in the USA."

American Top 40 with Casey Kasem aired on radio from July 4, 1970 until August 6, 1988. This recording is a rebroadcast from internet radio.

In this countdown:

This broadcast was previously shared without the first hour and no extras. This is the whole show with extras.

18 year-old Evelyn "Champagne" King has her second hit at #40, "I Don't Know If It's Right."

Randy Bachman, former member of Bachman Turner Overdrive leads his second band Ironhorse to number 39 with "Sweet Louis Louise" (but he can't make her drink).

The first act since the Beatles to debut three records in a row in the Top 40 is The Bee Gees. They do it this week with "Love You Inside Out" at number 37.

Casey tells us whatever happened to the band known as The Turtles ("Happy Together").

There is a song in the countdown by a man who used to burn money for a living.

Casey answers the question, "Who is the biggest Country cross-over act in the 70's?"

Casey tells how one disco song in the countdown was written by a duo who told People Magazine that they don't like disco.

One artist in the countdown tried to bar men from attending his concerts, but discrimination laws wouldn't let him. Casey tells the story.
