"We're on our way to the number one song in the USA and countin' down."

American Top 40 with Casey Kasem aired on radio from July 4, 1970 until August 6, 1988. This recording is a rebroadcast from internet radio.

If I remember correctly, all the songs in this countdown were on the radio when it was really, really cold outside & lots of Snow. Actually, I'm still cold from October of '83.

Automatic Mirrors - MAN!: "Mirror Man" (at number 39) is by The Human League and Automatic Man (at number 36) is by Michael Sembello

Another page from the American Top 40 Book of Song Origins: Hear Casey sing the ORIGINAL lyrics to an American standard by Ira & George Gershwin:

Rolly Polly, eating solely,
Ravioli, better watch your diet or bust,
Lunch or dinner, you're a sinner,
Please get thinner; losing all that fat is a must.

The final version of the song was sung by Ethel Murman, Judy Garland, and Gene Kelly, and hit #3 on the pop singles chart (by The Happenings [1967] of which Casey plays a portion, get it? Portion? Ravioli?)

Casey points out the fact that this is the week Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" sets a new record for Most Weeks on the Album Chart, 491 that is.

Musical Spelling Test: Your words are Led Zeplin, The Byrds, Cyrkle, Skyy, The Fixx, and Def Leppard (at number 29 with "Foolin'").

A listener asks, "What foreign recording act has had the most #1's on the Country Chart?" It's a Canadian tie, and both acts are from Nova Scotia. Hank Snow (I told you there was Snow) and Anne Murray (who sang "Snowbird").

Talking Heads video for "Burning Down The House" and "Uptown Girl" video by Billy Joel included in "RocketMan_Extras_Package_1" (while supplies last, YouTube uploaders BVMTValternative and Levan27).

"King Of Pain" (at number 7) by The Police was a pre-concert song that played when I went to see Billy Joel on his "Innocent Man" tour in the Spring of 1984, Then, when I saw Roger Waters perform The Wall in 2012, the pre-concert music was nothing but Bob Dylan songs. The songs played before a live show ("show," not "snow") must support but not conflict with the event. The last time I had to drive an hour or more to go to a show, I burned some CD's from my "PreConcert" stash. It is now available to you in "RocketMan_Extras_Package_1", 4 hours and 20 minutes (I can't help how that turned out) or 51 songs to get you ready for the show and then help you get back home (I can't help how I turned out either).

And in case you didn't know, "Islands in the Stream" was written by The Bee Gees, so get the "RocketMan_Extras_Package_1" torrent and hear THEM sing their own composition which is at number one for the week of October 29th, 1983.
