"Radio plays 'em, record stores sell 'em, Billboard ranks 'em, and AT40 counts 'em down."

American Top 40 with Casey Kasem aired on radio from July 4, 1970 until August 6, 1988. This recording is a rebroadcast from internet radio.

In this countdown one artist holds the Rock Era record for longest span of time between first and last number one songs (22 years). Casey gives the details right before playing "Go Home" by Stevie Wonder (at number 14).

Casey tells us whatever happened to the youngest female solo singer ever to hit the Top 40, 12 year-old Dodie Stevens who had the 1959 hit "Pink Shoelaces."

A listener asks, "In the Rock Era, what act has hit the Top 40 with the most movie songs?" The Rock Era champ had 26 movie songs after starring in 26 films, and three of those were #1's: "Love Me Tender," "Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear," and "Jailhouse Rock."

Sting sings "Love Is The Seventh Wave" (at number 30) but Casey reports the opinions of 2 dissenting listeners.

After Whitney Houston (at number 23 with "How Will I Know"), Casey gives a special report on the tour buses of the stars (some of their tour buses even have their OWN tour buses).

From the AT40 Book of Records: Casey tells the story of the first recording to sell 1,000,000 copies and plays a bit of it. The singer was also the mother of Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., and the grandmother of Stephanie Zimbalist, star of Remington Steele.
