American Top 40 1986 March 22nd (Size: 259.16 MB)
Description"We're on our way to the #1 song in the USA." Originally broadcast on March 22nd, 1986, this program is brought to you by RocketMan's College of Musical Knowledge in conjunction with the CoPilot of the Airwaves (and his faithful dog Shukatoom). This is American Top 40 with Casey Kasem. Until this week, three families have been tied for Most Solo Acts from One Family: The Osmonds, the Jacksons, and the Gibbs, at 3 apiece. Tie-breaker and heartbreaker Janet Jackson is at #39 with "What Have You Done For Me Lately." Likewise, the title of Group with the Most Top 40 Hits is the Beatles, but the tie for second is broken and Casey tells all about it right before "Harlem Shuffle" (at #31) by The Rolling Stones. The Outfield debuts their very first Top 40 hit at #37, "Your Love." Casey tells the story of the waiter who wouldn't quit. He kept waiting tables even while he had two hits on the chart. Having already discovered the oldest lyrics to ever make the chart a couple of weeks earlier, Casey now reports or the oldest lyrics ever to hit #1, and both were written 3,000 years ago (well, I guess that depends on when you are reading this). Likewise, a few weeks earlier Casey told the story of Hetty Green, the widow who had $95 million and wouldn't spend it. Now he tells about her son who spent it very well. A listener wants to know what artist has appeared on the most Top 10 hits, solo and group combined. Casey tells why the artist in 2nd place will almost certainly pass the artist in 1st place. With Loverboy at #11 with "This Could Be The Night," Casey profiles another real-life loverboy, Porfirio Rubirosa, who married two of the richest women in the world. The group Heart has their very first #1, "These Dreams."
