Andrei Eshpai was the son of a composer, and the father a respected film director. He belonged to that group of musicians that neither revolted against the authorities in the last decades of the Soviet regime, nor offered up hack works by the dozens extolling its virtues. His 5th Symphony pits a theme of eerie resignation against a brutal, militaristic thematic group. No written explanation is given; none is needed.

Transfers are made at 256 kBits/s, directly from the disc.
