Description
NOTE: THIS IS A MIX, ALL TRACKS ARE MIXED/FADED INTO EACH ANOTHER, THERE ARE NO INDIVIDUAL TRACKS.
Greetings fellow music lovers! M. here bringing you another 'mix' of what "I believe" to be the best Angel and Manfred Mann's Earth Band work. This mix has a pseudo story/concept/theme feel to it although given the lyrics, it's story appeal is disjointed at best. Those of you who enjoy Rush's 2112/Caress of Steel may enjoy these 4 cuts from Angel though there is a decidedly more Styx feel/sound to their work than Rush. (The rest of Angel's work has a Kiss/commercial feel to it that I feel lacks substance and do not care for. Apologies to all Angel fans, no offense intended) The Manfred Mann songs are, what I believe to be, his best work and VERY psychedelic/acid rock in nature. Long gone are the days of Doo-wah-diddy! Those of you who enjoy 'Blinded by the Light' (Springsteen) may or may not like this 'flavor' of Mann. Well without further ado, I present the Angel - Mann Anthology. As with 'Future Legend' all tracks are blended and some fading work needed to be done. I hope you enjoy! Comments would be appreciated, good or bad (preferably the former). If you would like any of the original 'un-mixed' tracks let me know and I will post them for you. TRACK LISTING ANGEL 01. TOWER 02. LONG TIME 03. MARINER 04. THE FORTUNE MANFRED MANN'S EARTH BAND 05. SINGING THE DOLPHIN THROUGH ANGEL TOWER Wind is raw, the air is stale On this cold winter's night Sent alone to tell a tale From the land of Delmite Journey starts at the edge of town With the stars as my guide There's no one here but my empty thoughts And the sword by my side Chorus: Just a light, from a tower Burning on from dusk to dawn Just a light, from a tower Burning on from dusk to dawn Sun is leaving the darkened clouds, As it slips past the hills Slow moon climbs way up in the sky, Keeps the heavens so still Come this far, though I know not why Said the things I've been told Greedy village that has sent me here For its own pot of gold Chorus: Just a light, from a tower Burning on from dusk to dawn Just a light, from a tower Burning on from dusk to dawn Everywhere the wind did sail, The castle lies just ahead Blade is drawn, still I carry on On my brow a cold sweat. As I look there upon the hill, There it stands so tall Said that stone structured wall of gold, Will heed the voice of us all. Chorus: Just a light, from a tower Burning on from dusk to dawn Just a light, from a tower Burning on from dusk to dawn Just a light, from a tower Burning on from dusk to dawn Just a light, from a tower Stands the victor and his gold, And that's all!!! LONG TIME Sitting in my old and dusty room I tell myself that things will change But you see, when I wake up from my dreaming It's still the same, I can't believe you've gone away Writing letters by the candlelight I look for words to bring you back Can't you see it won't let go of me Please let me be and set me free 'cause you see when I wake up from my dreaming It's still the same I can't believe you've gone away Ooh, the tears that I hide can't you see it's been a long time a long time a long time a long time I'll try and realize you're gone Tell myself that wanting you is wrong No matter what I say or do I've got to learn it's easy to forget you Words won't stop the pain I have inside Got to change the feelings that I hide And now the only thing left to do is to tell you the only way I ever knew how to survive An empty room's become a marble tomb And locked inside is all my pride All my tears have run down through the years I'm wanting more and more of you I walk the streets through the waking dream I feel the lonely days, the lonely nights, won't stop the pain It's been a long time a long time a long time a long time MARINER I'm an old man on the sea, Sailed the straits alone, my ship and me. Wait each day for her last call, The night will come and she will take it all Take me where the winds have blown, On an endless voyage home, Where the albatross has flown. Swabbed the decks both near and far, Around the cape, my mate, and old Jack Tar. Fought with Nelson side by side, He's just a man with wits and some time to bide. Take me where the winds have blown, On an endless voyage home, Where the albatross has flown. La, la-la, la, la, la, la-la. La, la-la, la, la, la, la-la. La, la-la, la, la, la, la-la. La, la-la, la, la, la, la-la. La, la-la, la, la, la, la-la. Just an old man on the sea, Sailed the straights alone my ship and me Wait each day for her last call, Night will come and she will take it all. Take me where the winds have blown, On an endless voyage home, Where the albatross has flown. THE FORTUNE Empty are the castle grounds when dusk arrives, Silence echoes loudly, for three lives here. Seagull, flying high above the open sky, Flying high and free, past each wistful eye. I brush my arms and legs, I smash my withered face, To show them I'm with no disgrace. Deep in a padded cell, They've locked me in this hell, 'Till dawn will ring the hangman's bell. Burning are the hours left for me to share, A cold and icy stare is all I bare. Marching to my death, they'll hang me till I die. Still I know I'll find where my fortune lies. Chorus: Voices in the air, Leave me with a dream. Crying of despair, Can't you hear me scream? Soon I'll say no more, Only one last sigh, As they pull the door, There my fortune lies. Solo Repeat Chorus (2x) MANFRED MANN'S EARTH BAND THE ROAD TO BABYLON By the waters of Babylon We lay down and wept and Wept for thee, Zion We remember we remember we Remember thee, Zion A golden helmet blinded minds Among ten thousand swords Along the road to Babylon A golden thunder silenced songs Among ten thousand voices On the road to Babylon Well well well, beware that golden helmet Well well well There's no easy way to go Well well well No easy road to follow Well well well ... Down, down in Hollywood town, The good time sounds are heard all day, But the night time's coming, you're on your own, Looking for a place someone to share with, Waiting in queues to hear the blues, To find a way from the emptiness, To be found inside of those who try, To climb to the image of the TV good guy. Stranger I know you, We learned to walk together, Lovers, wondering whether we really are. I'd like to show you images of sister brother Standing off from one another but not very far. It's had it's share of the rain, It needs some feeling to light it's fiery flame again, But one cruel lie and it could die. (Don't kill it Carol) Oh Carol oh, won't you let this flower grow, Don't kill it Carol. Oh Carol oh, won't you let this flower grow, Don't kill it Carol. This wild rose that I hold in my hand, It could grow to be so strong, Born one night in the calm of the storm, It was made for a rock and roll song. It's only just seen the light, It could so easily fall back to the gentle night, But one cruel lie and it could die. (Don't kill it Carol) Oh Carol oh, won't you let this flower grow, Don't kill it Carol. Oh Carol oh, won't you let this flower grow, Don't kill it Carol. It's looking for a place to live outside all space and time, Where there's no need for it to fade. There's a secret garden that I think we can find, Lot's of sunshine there's a touch of shade. (Don't kill it Carol) This wild rose that I hold in my hand It's the strangest thing I've seen, One bud only just started to show, And the leaves are the lightest green.
