The categories are not necessary the same as the ones in the Asset Store, for a reason, in some case, they really sucks. For example there is no Characters categories. There is a Monster/Humans.
- Do you know that less than 5% of the assets are maintained after 6 month? Less than 2% after one year.

A bit of history.


Fileshareclub is born from the community at CGPersia.com in January 2013.
The forum was not easy to use, and TheWolf (it was his name in the forums at this time) decided to make a small archive to make the things easier to browse.
At the beginning, FSC was looking like a directory with folders and files only. Only people coming from CGPeresia (checking the referrer) were about to see it. Strangely just after that, he was banned by the CGPersia admin and the words FSC, fileshareclub, the wolf were censured from the forum.

He then decided to create his own website based on the idea.
The website evolved until being completed in September 2013 Step by step, TheWolf added ranks, uploads, comments, and too many options to list. It is the first script of this kind dedicated to file sharing. With a complex credit system, people are encouraged to upload stuff to get credits so that they can download.

Unity was aware of the existence of this website, through some authors who were members.

In September 2013, Unity changed their Eula to include the possibility to cancel account of suspected pirates.

In October 2013, 4 members of Fileshareclub got their account blocked by Unity, including the first editor and TheWolf himself. At the same time at least 3 other people got their account closed at CGPersia, after the Unity staff managed by Caitlin Meeks found similar account names in the Unity forums. In consequence, TheWolf decided to remove all names, the mini forum, and started the ranking system, so that you need to have a certain level to see the nicknames. Lot of security measures were setup and a new Editor came at the rescue.
In 2014 all this year, Unity tried all they could to close the domain, sending DMCA to the ISP, and using specialized lawyers, but with no success. The website was down 1 week in August 2014, and that's it. However, to continue to stay online, TheWolf decided to write down a series of strict rules where the most important was the number 10: 'you must not share any assets outside of the community.' At this occasion, TheWolf found that a lot of the Unity staff were actual members of the community, including the General Manager Caitlin (with the nickname Tina Belcher). A tracking system has been setup so that every shared asset could be tracked down to the member who shared it. As a result, many people got fired from FSC.

In January 2015, Cobus Saunderson (3DForge), Chris West and Taharen, 3 authors from the asset store managed to convince Caitlin that one asset store publisher was also TheWolf himself... and unity blocked his account. This was not a real problem for FSC but this was public ally debated in the Unitys publishers forums, and was catched by some people who posted the entire conversation. In this conversation, Tasharen suggested to pay an assassin to kill TheWolf. TheWolf had to step into the conversation and this did such a mess that they closed to asset store publisher google+ forum to the public. TheWolf found that some authors (3dforge) was an active member of the Fileshareclub community and downloaded stuff. Unity blocked more account this time only on Persia, which prompted many protests posts on their forums which were quickly removed. The Thread: WARNING Unity is blocking accounts got +15,000 vues total at CGPersia which was more than any thread on the Unity forums.

Many pirates from CGPersia trolled TheWolf about a donation system that was making millions - supposedly. It became nauseous when 2 people 3DXile and Abbaddon posted insulting comments, with what they were thinking about the real Identity of TheWolf. CGPersia banned several people including TheWolf definitively.

Finally, some pirates managed to get all the assets from Tasharen, Chris West and 3DForge and posted them at CGPersia in retaliation. Beginning 2015 Zoro started to post on kat.cr all the assets published on CGPersia. TheWolf been always suspicious that it might be 3DXile and his brother Abbaddon that were behind this new nickname. They also started another disgusting campaign against FSC and shared many assets downloaded from FSC but under their own name.
TheWolf found his account and blocked it, prompting immediate hateful rants from the kat.cr community members. Some people contacted Paypal and managed to get the donation account of FSC closed. At the same time, CGPersia lost their donation account at Paypal as well, and Zorro got a huge chunk of his downloads removed from kat.cr. It is not clear who did all of that, Unity or some angry pirate like Virus? CGPersia decided to stop all registration and close the forum from the inside. FSC decided to become totally closed as well and stopped all registrations too, faking its closure to avoid any more spies, the community continued but totally underground.

FSC been never a large community like kat or CGPersia. There was at most 1200 members at its peek, many of them being people working with Unity, and after a cleanup of unused accounts and spies, only 350 were left. In 2016, only 32 members we active, but very efficient at grabbing a total of 7400 assets from the asset store. Lot of them where heavy buyers at the asset store. Et voila. FSC had to fights against CGPersia, the Authors of the Asset Store, the Unity lawyers, and finally the Zorro fans at kat.cr. But it is time now to move on and release everything to the public. Enjoy.
