The convoys taking food and supplies to northern Russia were a vital element in Stalin's war against Hitler, which Stalin chose to ignore after 1945. In this brief memoir, one of the merchant seamen on that route recalls being torpedoed and left in the freezing water. He is still clearly affected by the memory of that night.
