Arnell - Concerto Capriccioso for Violin & Orch - M Yates, L McAslan, BBC Concert Orch (2009) [Philidor; FLAC] (Size: 81.93 MB)
DescriptionRichard Arnell had his greatest successes as a composer in the 1950s, when he drew the attention and praise of the well-known conductor, Thomas Beecham. After that point he began experimenting with mechanical and electronic sound, and drew far enough from both the traditional mainstream and the aleatory young turks to alienate nearly all backers. His Concerto Capriccioso for Violin and Orchestra dates from 1954, right in the middle of the period of his greatest popularity and skill. Like many works of his at that time it contains colorful orchestration, rhythmic verve, and a full intent to commit mayhem upon harmonic expectations.
