Description
With Osho comentaries in Hindi
The Ashtavakra Gita, with Osho comentaries in Hindi, also known as the Ashtavakra Samhita, is a famous, highly regarded Sanskrit poem in which the main character, a sage named Ashtavakra, talks about Self-realization with one of his students, King Janaka. The language is spare and concentrated; the message is experiential Advaita Vedanta. This poem’s reputation is very great. For example, Osho wrote: Man has many scriptures, but none are comparable to the Gita of Ashtavakra. Before it the Vedas pale, the Upanishads speak with a weak voice. Even the Bhagavad Gita does not have the majesty found in the Ashtavakra Samhita — it is simply unparalleled. The mega-series Ashtavakra Mahageeta consists of 91 discourses given in Pune on Ashtavakra Gita, aka Ashtavakra Samhita. Mahageeta means "great song." Ashtavakra was an Indian sage whose precise time on Earth is not known. Guesses range from 500 BCE to 1400 CE. His name means literally "eight bends," referring to the eight bodily deformities he was born with. His "song" consists of a dialogue between him and a King Janaka, wherein he outlines a fairly radical non-dualism. It is considered a classic of Advaita Vedanta. The complete 91-discourse set was published 1979 by Rebel as a series of 9 volumes : Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 1 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग एक) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 2 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग दो) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 3 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग तीन) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 4 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग चार) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 5 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग पाँच) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 6 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग छह) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 7 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग सात) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 8 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग आठ) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 9 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग नौ) Then published 2002 by OIF as a series of 6 volumes : Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 1 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग एक) (2) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 2 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग दो) (2) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 3 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग तीन) (2) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 4 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग चार) (2) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 5 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग पाँच) (2) Ashtavakra Mahageeta, Bhag 6 (अष्टावक्र : महागीता, भाग छह) (2) None of the above editions can be found anywhere in bookshops or libraries, but are referenced by all Diamond editions as their source. time period of Osho's original discourses/talks/letters Sep 11, 1976 to Feb 11, 1977 Sharing Widget |
