2.Windows 8.1/8 is Officially Compatible with AIS & Latest Version i.e 14.0.1.719 is working fine (Tested my self on Win 8.1 x64)

3.It is RECOMMENDED to perform a CLEAN installation of AIS(Uninstall Any Previous Installation Even if Latest!) and during the installation (Not Recommended) Uncheck "Web Protection" and "Mail Protection"(to Enhance your internet Browsing/Downloading speed)

Instructions:
1.Open Avira Internet Security 2014 Setup.
2.Check Custom Installation and Click Next.
3.Uncheck Mail Protection And Web Protection and Click Next.
4.Click on License File(Its right above the Button for Proxy Setting)
5.Locate the HBEDV 1 or 2 File.
6.You are Good to go!

After Restarting the PC If Key goes Invalid, Dont Panic!, Jst Reinstall the License From License Manager.
