Description
The Ba'ath party, literally "Revival Party" is a Left Fascist
Pan-Arabic socialist party that has 2 major strains of thought- Iraqi and Syrian. There are several key thinkers, Aflaq, one of them is presented here, but most are not translated. Saddam Hussein, Iraq's former dictator (currently deceased) after being found guilty of numerous crimes against humanity related to Dujail massacre, was one of its more notable modern adherents. Syria is still nominally Ba'ath as well, though Al-Asaad also has a cult of personality and an elite composed entirely of Alawites (members of a Shi'a sect) which complicates things. N.B. As always, these historical documents are presented in order to preserve history. I emphatically do not endorse this political philosophy. It didn't work, it doesn't work, it has no coherent economic system, no space for Democracy, and it's an incoherent populism that quickly degenerates into dictatorship primarily based on a triumvirate of Nationalism, Anti-Westernism, and Anti-Zionism.
