About the band:

Baklava is a musical group from Skopje, Macedonia which was formed in 2005. They are famous for their contemporary remakes of traditional Macedonian songs. They have a minimalist musical concept: the sound is made by only one female vocal and two string and percussion instruments – the tambura and the bendir. Apart from the remakes of Macedonian folk compositions, Baklava’s worldview is open to other folk traditions as well.



About the album:

Unlike their first album (Baklava), Kalemar mostly consists of original music. Only 3 of the songs are remakes of traditional songs, though the rest are still in the same spirit.
