This isn't quite the full story - 'Hazy Shade Of Winter', the band's brilliant rocked-up cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic, is missing, as is the gorgeous late-period single 'I'll Set You Free', but other than that, this is a thoroughly enjoyable collection of promos. 'Hero Takes A Fall' is strangely reminiscent of the psychotic sci-fi classic 'Westworld' in its use of creepy humanoid dummies, whilst the video for the Prince-penned pop gem 'Manic Monday' captures its time and place as well as anything else you're likely to see. There were actually two videos made for 'If She Knew What She Wants', and thankfully, the better one is included here, a simple but effective pastiche of the way rock bands were presented on 1960s television that fits perfectly with the song's retro feel. 'Walking Down Your Street' goes for a comedy feel that doesn't quite come off, but Little Richard has a lot of fun with the cameo, and the scenes with the Bangles driving around in a van similar to the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine exudes a strange eighties cool...don't ask me why! By the time we get to 'In Your Room' the band have turned the glamour meter up full, and there's another nod to the sixties in that video's flat-out psychedelia and surrealism. 'Eternal Flame' is as restrained and tasteful as the song itself, and the closing 'Be With You' - filmed largely at a live concert - gives you a taste of how exciting the Bangles were (and still are) in a live situation, and the director slots in a nice close-up of Susanna's rear end! Not sure what that has to do with the music, but I enjoyed seeing it anyway! All in all, a great little video compilation that will give you hours of fun, and a reminder that the Bangles were doing jingle-jangle retro long before Oasis and Teenage Fanclub had even been near a studio. Highly recommended.
