The big two (i.e. Marvel, DC (and Vertigo)) have always dated their books on the cover and the indicia two months in advance. This is due to tradition, where publishers printed the dates that the newsstands were supposed to pull them off the main shelf. So it was originally a sort of expiration date. That tradition has stayed through to today, for those two. The indy publishers who came much later weren't subject to that. Comic scans have traditionally used the dates printed on the indicia (fine print on the first or last interior page). So those released for Marvel and DC/Vertigo will be dated like this. FYI :)
