By David Kenner "Strangers In The Night" is probably the best-known and best-loved composition by Bert Kaempfert and it makes several appearances on this great two-fer from Taragon. Kaempfert scored the comedic spy thriller "A Man Could Get Killed" and the original soundtrack from the film comprises the first half of this CD. It's a marvelous score filled with beauty, tension and intrigue. The two prevailing themes throughout the score are "Strangers In The Night" and "But Not Today". "Strangers" was a modest hit for Kaempfert and a blockbuster hit for Frank Sinatra, and it naturally became the title song of the next Kaempfert LP. "Strangers" is featured here in it's full length hit version. Also included is "But Not Today" in a full length version that was featured as the b-side of the "Strangers" single. There are many other standout cuts on the "Strangers" album as well, including Kaempfert's hit single version of "I Can't Give You Anything But Love". Three other cuts worth mentioning are Kaempfert-Herbert Rehbein originals: "Milica" (better known as "Sweet Maria"), "Forgive Me" and "Two Can Live On Love Alone".
