You wouldn't know it from the description but the two pieces that comprise the bulk of this text are Rainer Maria Rilke's "Tribute to the Great Sculptor," an essay written in 1902 at the start of the poet's association with Rodin, and "The Walking Man," a speech Rilke delivered in honor of Rodin in 1907. Both are translated by Daniel Slager.
