Innovation comes but a few times in music. For the extreme music fan, cherished icons (and recording legacies thereto) of Mick Harris (Napalm Death), Chuck Schuldiner (Death), and the duo of Ihsahn and Samoth (Emperor) set the markers for their respective genre-specific standards that long after the original artists move on, their merits remain. In the case of long-running but highly underexposed French-based, Blut Aus Nord, innovation takes on new meaning.

Serving as the musical equivalent of Mayhem sodomizing Neurosis with a Godflesh joystick, Blut Aus Nord redefines music as any extreme music fan (metal or otherwise) knows it. Their macabre creations throw ardent fists in the face of mainstream and mediocrity, resulting in a nightmarish voyage of sonic disharmony. England’s SonicDeath says it best when noting, “listening to Blut Aus Nord is like watching your own funeral in slow motion... a great sucking veil of endless, foreboding darkness.”

Originally released late May 2004, Candlelight now fortifies the already impeccable recording, enhancing with the value added ep the band titles Thematic Emanation Of Archetypal Multiplicity. Kerrang calls it, “the sound of underground metal's black heart, twisted beyond all recognition."

Formed in 1994, then as a one-man project known in small circles as Vlad, Blut Aus Nord have amassed a seizable recording history that has till now remains much out of reach of US audiences. Signing with Candlelight Records in early 2004, however, this is set to change with the release of the band’s latest album. The Work Which Transforms God is a harrowing epic that is as equally bleak as it is grandiose. It is a challenging record that is sinister to its blackened core; bleak in all manner of speaking.

This is the bands upcoming 11th full length album. It's going to be released on October 10th through Debemur Morti Productions.
