Description Violinist Nathan Milstein hated live recordings, and frequently made it a condition of his contracts that a commercial recording be substituted for a live performance if it was being broadcast. Some slipped by his attention, however, including this characterful Brahms Violin Concerto. He is at his patrician best, as is Kertesz, who would tragically die in his middle years from drowning.
