On 11 June the song Crossfire made its leaked debut on the radio. The next day, the song was confirmed as the first single of the album and gained a cover



On 14 June the song was played for the first time on Radio in the UK on the Zane Lowe Show on Radio 1. It was preceeded by an interview with Flowers in which he reassured fans that that this does not mean the end of The Killers and that discussions have taken place to determine when they can get back in the studio. He also confirmed that bandmate Ronnie Vannucci Jr. plays drums on the album.
