Colin Blanchard was a sophisticated manipulator of vulnerable women, placing himself at the centre of a cabal of child abusers, four of whom were middle-aged mothers. Cutting Edge carefully unravels the webs of torrential internet chat and cyber-sex that led Vanessa George, Angela Allen, Tracy Lyons and Tracy Dawber to supply Blanchard with photographs of themselves abusing babies and young children. "He asked me to," says one. "I don't know why I did it." The most notorious, Vanessa George, was tracked by police to her job at a nursery school in Plymouth. It's chilling to hear the despair in a police officer's voice on her interview tape as he begs her to reveal which of her charges she assaulted: "Vanessa, please." He is answered with a series of stony "No comments". At her interview a weeping Tracy Lyons tells police: "I suppose I just liked the attention [from Blanchard] because he used to talk to me." There are contributions from members of the abusers' families, including one relative who had to go into hiding, and from George's husband, who knew nothing of her crimes.
