The result is overwhelmingly better. It still "suffers" from the "Dogme 95" prinicples, such as allowing only natural lighting to be used (makes poorly lit segments to look extremely grainy and rough). Our research indicates that part of making the movie look more "realistic", the quality was intentionally degraded. It was shot on 35mm, then transfered to video and then back to film....For this edition they made a new digital tranfer in 6k from the original 35mm camera negatives and the 35mm internegative, and then restored in 4k. We've read some comments from people claiming the new restore looks like they remember it from theatrical screenings. We're somewhat skeptical about that, given the movie is 18 years old :) So to sum up with this new restore we get: 1) Vastly improved pq and colors 2) More frame details and pixels 3) DTS Audio 4) English subs See Proof dir in 720p for some comparisons.
