Documentary examining the cause and effect of last year's shocking floods in Britain.



Last year Britain experienced the worst summer flooding since records began. Thirteen people died, over 50,000 houses were ruined and thousands were made homeless. Why did it happen? Could it happen again, and if it does, will we cope any better?



Nicky Campbell and Kate Humble look at the science behind the floods, while Matt Allwright investigates the effects on people's lives. Though the floods in the North of England in June were very different from those that devastated the West Country in July, the team investigates the phenomena that linked them. Featuring astonishing stories of courage and survival, including a moving interview with Michael Barnett, whose son Mike died of hypothermia when his foot became trapped in a drain. Some upsetting scenes.
