Description
The main idea behind the video is that of Spears crashing down 2 Earth as a meteorite, trying 2 find fame in the planet. The video begins with the meteorite falling thru space 2 the Earth, in the year 2011, and lighting up a city when it finally lands. After this, black-and-white interspersed scenes of Spears getting ready in a soundstage r shown, while the words "Britney Spears" and "Hold It Against Me" appear in Def Leppard-inspired multicolored letters. Spears is then seen wearing shorts and showin her midriff in the soundstage, while her dancers in white r getting dressed around her. They r surrounded by cameras and lights. As the first chorus begins, Spears appears wearing a white wedding dress inside a cylinder-shaped metal room with wires, and surrounded by television monitors playing her past music videos. When the second verse begins, Spears sings wearing sparkly red skull-shaped shoulder pads, with dozens of microphones around her.
A pastiche of following scenes alternates btwn Spears dancing on the soundstage, singing with the microphones and a scene of just red lips, a reference 2 the opening shot of the 1975 film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Afterwards, Spears is also seen ascending thru the metal room, while 4 eyeless dancers in white emerge from below her gown. When the breakdown starts, she begins 2 eject painting thru IVs in her fingers, staining the room and the monitors. Then, 2 versions of Spears, both wearing blue and red dresses with flowing trains, r seen fighting each other. After this, both versions of Spears, as well as her on the wedding dress, fall exhausted 2 the ground. While interspersed scenes of Spears in the soundstage r shown, the other versions of herself start 2 wake up. The final scene shows Spears dressed in a short black dress with her dancers in black on a stage, with confetti and pyrotechnics around them.
