Note: The earlier experimental torrent ("created via a fully automated process from data stored on a remote host") does not appear to be viable ("torrent file does not throughout match the data it was supposedly created from"). This one was created the old-fashioned way. *sniffle*

You can try force-rechecking the file created by that torrent and continue from there. The way the recheck process is designed, there ought not to be any integrity problems once this one finishes, even if the earlier one gave you corrupted data. Still, I don't feel entirely comfortable with the idea in this particular case, considering that I do not fully understand how the earlier problem came about in the first place, so... up to you.
