I would have thought you'd peg S06E15 as the distinction point.

Up until episode S06E14 I was encoding this show MKV-AVC-AVI\n
After that, I've been doing it MP4-VDub-AVI\n

While the former is a higher quality source,\n
The latter has the benefit of 2pass encoding.\n

I have yet to see difinitive feedback that anyone prefers one to the other.\n
