C++ Programming for the Absolute Beginner [2nd Edition] [2009] (Size: 6.48 MB)
DescriptionBio If you are new to programming with C++ and are looking for a solid introduction, this is the book for you. Developed by computer science instructors, books in the "For the Absolute Beginner"™ series teach the principles of programming through simple game creation. You will acquire the skills that you need for more practical C++ programming applications and will learn how these skills can be put to use in real-world scenarios. Throughout the chapters, you will find code samples that illustrate concepts presented. At the end of each chapter, you will find a complete game that demonstrates the key ideas in the chapter, a summary of the chapter, and a set of challenges that tests your newfound knowledge. By the time you finish this book, you'll be well versed in C++ and be able to apply the basic programming principles you've learned to the next programming language you tackle. Uploader Notes I have a physical copy of this book, and while I do recommend it, you will notice some syntax errors and at times there will be wrong word choices. If you're not one to take everything as you're told, then you will be just fine :) Otherwise, good introduction into C++. I'm a little over halfway through the book and am enjoying C++ thus far. Taking notes and working things out on paper has proved to be a great help in learning. If you have a tablet device, it makes switching from eBook to code editor all the more easier. Recommended Code Editor The book suggests Microsoft's Visual Studio, and while that is a great editor, I highly recommend using CodeBlocks instead. After using Dev-C++ (and eventually the Orwell update), an editor like CodeBlocks is a wish come true.
