Description

Harris released his debut single, "Acceptable in the 80s", in March 2007—marking the artist's first chart appearance when it peaked at number ten in the United Kingdom. The release was succeeded by "The Girls" in June 2007, which peaked at number three in the UK and number thirty-three in Australia. Harris' debut studio album, I Created Disco, was released on June 18, 2007 and having peaked at number eight on the UK Albums Chart was certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) the following year. A third single, "Merrymaking at My Place", followed the album's release in August 2007—reaching number forty-three in the UK.

In April 2009, Harris released "I'm Not Alone" as the lead single from his second studio album, Ready for the Weekend. The track attained international chart success—peaking at number forty-eight in Australia, number forty in New Zealand and becoming his first number-one single in the UK. The succeeder, "Ready for the Weekend", became Harris' fourth top ten single when it peaked at number three in the UK upon release in August 2009. The tracks' parent album was released on August 19, 2007 and became Harris' first number-one album in the United Kingdom; attaining a gold certification from the BPI within two months. A further two singles were released from the album: "Flashback" (November 2009) and "You Used to Hold Me" (February 2010)—which peaked at number eighteen and number twenty-seven in the UK respectively.

The release of his third studio album, 18 Months, saw Harris move away from vocals; instead focusing on the music production. The lead single, "Bounce", featuring American singer Kelis, was released in June 2011—peaking at number two in the UK and becoming Harris' first top ten single in Australia when it peaked at number seven. The second single, "Feel So Close", on which Harris returned to vocals, was released in August 2011 and saw Harris, rise to international prominence when it peaked at number twelve on the Billboard Hot 100. The track also peaked at number two in the UK, number five in New Zealand and number five in Australia. "Let's Go", featuring Ne-Yo, was released in April 2012 following usage in a Pepsi Max advertisement. It became Harris' third consecutive number two hit in the UK, also peaking at number seventeen on the Billboard Hot 100. Two more singles, "We'll Be Coming Back" featuring Example and "Sweet Nothing" featuring Florence Welch, were released ahead of the album; with the latter becoming Harris' fourth UK number-one single.
