Germany’s Can are one of the most infamous and influential of the experimental music movement in the 70′s. Centered around an escape of the normal confinements of popular music, Can bridged the worlds of The Velvet Underground, Frank Zappa and Jimi Hendrix with an undeniable maiden voyage into the convergence of ethnic percussion, musique concrete, world music, psychedelia, proto-punk and so much more.
These lost tapes from Can have survived over 40 years of sitting in the original studios they were created in and received transfer to the Spoon Records archives in recent times after the Can studio was sold to the German Rock N Pop Museum. Curated by Irmin Schmidt and Daniel Miller, compiled by Irmin Schmidt and Jono Podmore and edited by Jono Podmore, The Lost Tapes will easily be one of the most important box set releases this year.
