The subtitles don't work, and now I see it stops half way threw the movie stops???

For some obscure reason I cannot seem to get subtitles to show up on my tv even though they are hardcoded. I've tried including an srt file with subtitles and that still fails to work. Playing straight from a hard drive so shouldn't have a problem. Any suggetions anyone, that isn't just watch it on a pc screen?
