Charlie Muffin is a British secret agent, who as always in spy fiction is disenhanted and not liked by his boss. Muffin was previously responsible for breaking up a Soviet spy ring (this is the 1980s), but has a grudging liking for the Russian general who headed the network. The Russians want him back, thus when a senior KGB General makes it known he wants to defect, only Muffin is suspicious. But who is trying to double cross whom?
