Kezys was born in Lithuania in 1928, fled to the West prior to the Soviet occupation and then moved to the USA in 1950 to eventually be ordained as a Jesuit Priest. He took up photography, and, in 1965 had his first exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago. He has since exhibited widely, been collected by a number of museums and had 21 books of his work published. Now a former Jesuit, Kezys operates a small gallery in Stickney, Illinois, that represents Lithuanian artists worldwide and publishes books on art, religion, and photography.
