Please Read Uploader's Notes Below Tech Specifications: Synopsis: Jayobroto (Parambrata Chatterjee) brings an offer to his three colleagues Trina (Aparna Sen), Sakya (Goutam Ghose) and Diptya (Chiranjeet Chakraborty). They are to make four short films.. each with his own story and then these are to be knit together to make one complete film. There is only one condition - the theme of each tale must be death. The money is good and the four are intrigued enough to accept the offer. They are to go to a lonely bungalow by the sea to meet the producer, discuss their story lines and find out the terms of their contract. The four are not just friends. their lives are interlinked. Trina and Diptya were once married and have drifted apart. Sakya too was in love with Trina. Its only Jayabrata, the youngest of them all, who is a newcomer to the lives of the other three. The four come up with their own story lines. Sakya comes up with a story of ghostly revenge. Diptya spins a tale of addiction and death and Trina tells a tale that can only be called a reverse planchette. Then in a lonely house, where the foursome take shelter when their car breaks down, Jayobroto tells his story.. for it is the story that links all their lives together... Comments: Srijit Mukherjee has, in the past, given us spell binding movies like Autograph, Baishe Srabon and Hemlock Society. He seems to speacialise in psychological thrilllers and Chatushkone is the latest in that genre. It is four tales woven into one. and the interesting part of it is that all four main actors are well known directors and actors in real life too. As a result, they tell tales in the language of the film-maker, with visualisation of how the story will be filmed. It's a very interesting way of telling a tale. All four are brilliant in their roles and more than anything else, it is their superb portrayals that holds the film together. The film is replete with flashes of humour, quotations from Shakespeare and Emily Dickinson and typically Bengali bhadralok humour which is delightful. I specially liked the one about Ghosts having to come with a food menu, if they want to tell their tales. The individual stories are interesting and the direction styles of each story is subtly different thus lending authenticity to the movie. There are other nice directional touches including giving different shades for the stories of each of the protagonists. The dream sequence of Aparna is filmed beautifully. Still, I was disappointed by the ending. Jayabrata's was the critical tale... the one that clears up the mystery and it is the weakest. Where was the need for a Russian Roulette? Would the persons who won the roulette be allowed to go, thus compromising Jayabrata and his henchmen? Was taking jjust one life enough revenge for Jayabrata? The emphasis on drama has paid its toll in the reduced level of logic! It thus becomes an absorbing tale, but not a plausible one. Unfortunately, that is a repeated failure of Srijit Mukherjee. We saw it in Baise Srabon, we see it here as well. There are a few unnecessary scenes as well.. The little mystery created for Barun Chanda is quite unnecessary, even if it leads to a wry smile. The interactions of Tathagata (Diptya's son) and his fathers paramour (or with Diptya himself) add nothing to the tale. Even the little black and white flashbacks, intriguing as they are, do not really weave into the fabric of the tale. We understand what they meant a the end, but they go against the flow of the narrative. Editng is competent; Music by Anupam Ray is very good.. and cinematography by Sudeep Chatterjee is outstanding. You can see the film for its visuals alone. Its a long film - all of two and a half hours - but the Director not only holds your interest but leaves you feeling satisfied. You will enjoy this film. it is only when you start thinking later, that you will realise that like the moon, this film has scars.. Uploader's Notes: As promised the X264 rip of the movie which will play on standalone players and older versions of VLC etc. The size has been kept a 1GB because this is a very long movie and I did not want to compromise on quality. The sound is AAC but with 5.1 channels and I have cleaned up the audio a bit. The quality of the video is approx. 90% of that of the x265 rip I had put up earlier. RijVnet and/or I will put up other rips of the film as well over the next few days (including 720p upscales).
