Original 1990 Music Videos by Universal Music (credit to Artur Safin of VK) A Rare MV that aint available at utube. Worthy of your perusal. Superb song with amazing lyrics, listen to it and understand the irony. "Crown of Thorns" written by Clark Datchler. You were yesterday's hero An ordinary man of flesh and blood Took the world on your shoulders A hopeless crusade and act of love But it's a world obsessed with religion And now you wear the face of a god Like the words you said, you're as good as dead Just a work of art on the wall And that's why nobody wears A crown of thorns Nobody cares, nobody wears A crown of thorns anymore Holy men talk of hunger While standing beneath a cross of gold And there are preachers on the TV In their thousand dollar suits, who sell your soul To think you died for what you believed in Only to be exploited and used Now you're supermen from the promised land Just a vision of Hollywood And that's why nobody wears A crown of thorns Nobody cares, nobody wears A crown of thorns anymore You showed me That there's hope for humanity But once more you're being betrayed So many countries torn by their idols Too many prophets screaming for blood And they only hear what they want to hear When it comes to God up above https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clark_Datchler https://en.wikipedia.org/wik...e_%28Clark_Datchler_album%29 Clark Datchler left Johnny Hates Jazz in 1988 at the height of his fame. After internal differences within the band had led to a painful separation, he sought to rediscover a deeper sense of purpose in his music. He moved to Amsterdam and began work on a solo album called Raindance. The album featured some renowned LA musicians, including bass player Nathan East, drummer JR Robinson and percussionist Paulinho Da Costa. Also featured was guitarist Dave Gregory of XTC. The album also saw Clark’s first environmental song, “Raindance” – one of many to follow. The Raindance album was released in 1990 on Virgin Records, with an epic track called “Crown Of Thorns” being the first single. However the song, which suggested that Jesus was a courageous mortal man and not the son of God, and which criticized organized religions in the process, was shunned by radio and failed to chart. Consequently, the album was only released in Japan, where it did achieve commercial success. Sharing Widget |
