May 1st 1997



Gita makes amends with her mother-in-law, while Joe seems suspiciously calm after his outburst. Tiffany confides her

optimism that Grant is the baby's father to Bianca.



May 5th 1997



Lorraine is desperate to hear news of Joe. Pauline is shocked by a revelation about Martin.



May 6th 1997



George is confronted with a glamorous former acquaintance. Grant makes a decision about Courtney's future. The Fowlers

face an anxious day waiting for news of Martin.



May 8th 1997



Sonia meets the boy of her dreams, but hopefully she won't try to serenade him with her trumpet. Clare, too, is smitten

with her date. Elsewhere in the Square, Lorraine is permitted to see Joe at long last.



May 12th 1997



Bianca is shocked to find out what Joe has been going through and she is totally unprepared for the reality of the

situation when she makes an emotional journey to see him. Grants shares his thoughts and dreams about the future with

Lorraine, but is surprised by her response. Meanwhile, Nigel and Clare call a truce and Lenny celebrates his birthday

with a party.



May 13th 1997



As word spreads about Joe's condition, Lorraine finds it very difficult to deal with the situation and, when Peggy

offers her opinion, it proves too much for her to bear. George finds himself struggling to cope with many demands for

his attention and cannot maintain his juggling act. Meanwhile, Tony tries to convince Polly he is on to a good story and

Sanjay and Gita have an important appointment to attend.



May 15th 1997



George's life is under scrutiny both personally and professionally. Dot tries her hand at working in the video shop.

May 19th 1997



George finds himself facing Peggy's wrath over his secretive behaviour, Peggy is determined to get some answers, but he

won't admit what has been going on. As Clare celebrates her birthday, Pauline and Dot discover that they have a lot to

learn when it comes to organising teenage parties. Meanwhile, Tiffany pours her heart out, Lorraine lets her feelings be

known and Sanjay gets the impression that he is not the most popular man on the market.



May 20th 1997



As the Fowlers remember Arthur, Pauline reveals a family secret to Mark and Ruth. A night on the tiles ends in disaster

for Tiffany. Tony and Polly uncover an interesting lead. Lorraine faces an uncertain future.



May 22nd 1997



Grant is inundated by well-meaning advice about what he should do for the best. While he struggles to make his position

clear after taking the baby, Tiffany finds it hard to accept. Lorraine is in for a shock when a routine visit to see Joe

turns into a nightmare. Meanwhile, Mark reveals his fears to Ruth and Michael's day goes from bad to worse.



May 26th 1997



Blossom makes a life changing decision, while Bianca faces trouble on the market. Tiffany grabs a job opportunity

leaving Grant feeling left out in the cold. Events force Mark to take stock of his life and reconsider the future.



May 27th 1997



Tiffany has cause for celebration. Ricky lets his hair down and winds up out of pocket following a night in with the

boys. Mark shares his health worries with Ruth and Pauline and Martin meet the social services, while Polly and Tony

decide to take a gamble.



May 29th 1997



After much soul-searching, Lorraine comes to a painful decision leaving Grant far from pleased. Ricky's gambling

addiction puts him in the doghouse with Bianca, while Michael surprises the market traders by trying to convince them he

did the right thing. Blossom and Felix head off into the sunset while Polly and Tony bears the brunt of Max's fury.
